61% of CANCER Patients Have Forgiveness Issues

New research shows that 61% of CANCER patients have forgiveness issues. The medical community is recognizing the direct correlation between illness and emotion.

Dr. Michael Barry, the author of the book, The Forgiveness Project states that "Harboring these negative emotions, this anger and hatred, creates a state of chronic anxiety."

All dis-ease, from joint pain to fatal illnesses, has an emotional root. It can be difficult and challenging work to dig out these roots, but it's worth it and absolutely necessary if you want to heal.

Shocking Case Study on Life Satisfaction

I recently conducted a Life Satisfaction Survey among my friends and business associates. The participants ranged from all walks of life.  The results were shocking. I will share them with you below, but first I’d like to talk about life, how we see ourselves, and how we see others.

Many of us have hundreds of interactions with people daily either in person, via email, on the phone or on social media. What you perceive when you speak to someone may or may not be correct.  How many times have you interacted with someone never knowing that they recently went through a life changing event, were suffering from a chronic health condition, or were under a large amount of stress? Sometimes it shows, but most often it doesn’t.

We all wear masks. We mask ourselves to either portray or hide something. For example, if you are in a business meeting, you don’t necessarily want others to know that you had a major argument with your partner last night  and that argument is still spinning in your mind so you put on a mask. When out with friends, you may not want them to know that you couldn’t make this month’s mortgage payment  and are totally stressed out about your finances so you put on a mask. It’s a normal part of how we conduct ourselves; how we manage “the business of life.”

The results of my survey were shocking to me.  It turns out that too many people aren’t happy, they don’t feel healthy, they have major challenges, they suffer from stress and lack overall fulfillment in their lives.

When asked, in what one area of your life do you face your biggest challenge, over 18% said health, another 18% said work (employment or business) and another 18% said personal relationships.  Health, work, and personal relationships are the core components of life and 54% of the individuals surveyed were unhappy in at least one area of their life. Shockingly, that’s over half!

When asked, how big of a challenge is this for you, nearly 43% said very challenging.

When asked, how stressful is your life, 33.3% said they had more stress than they would like and 9.5% felt they had more stress than they could handle.

When asked, how fulfilled are you with the choices you’ve made in the last 6 months, nearly 62% reported being less than very fulfilled.

And finally, when asked, how they would rate their health, over half (52.4%) said their health was less than very good.

After analyzing the results, it became evident to me that too many people have put their life satisfaction on hold. Life is a balancing act. We all have circumstances in our lives that we would like to change or improve, and we all have some form of stress. It’s impossible to escape stress, but what is possible is changing how we handle it.

These statistics are especially disturbing because it’s a well-known fact that unmanaged stress will eventually manifest into a physical condition. According to the Centers for Disease Control, nearly 50% of all adults (over 1 million people) have one or more chronic health conditions.

The key to happiness, fulfillment, and life satisfaction is how you choose to deal with life circumstances and how you manage your stress. This is why Life Coaching is becoming increasingly popular.
